About Chris Shenfield
Christopher ("Chris") Shenfield is a personal injury and civil litigation attorney and trial lawyer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. With over 21 years' experience handling difficult cases, Chris has a track record of winning litigation against big insurance companies, large manufacturers, trucking companies, and negligent state and municipal governments. About Doug Atkinson (Of Counsel)
Doug Atkinson has an active practice in personal injury, wrongful death, and employment law at Atkinson & Associates, and has practiced law in a wide number of civil, criminal, and appellate fields, including: real estate, asbestos, investment fraud, dangerous products, dangerous property, dangerously designed roadways, auto accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, dog bites and dangerous animals, trespass of real property, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and many other types of lawsuits and claims.
Doug graduated Magna Cum Laude, with election to the national Phi Beta Kappa honor society, with a B.A. Philosophy, Minor in Classics, from Saint Michael's College in Vermont. Doug received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he received the CALI Award for top examinee in Securities Regulation. While in law school, Doug worked with the research attorneys' office at the Marin County Superior Court, and for Judge Faye D'Opal in the Appellate Division of the Superior Court. Doug practiced with two San Francisco Bay Area law firms before establishing Atkinson & Associates.
Doug was the son of an engineer who contracted an acute form of leukemia and died as a result of his exposure to toxic chemicals while working for a major U.S. corporation. Despite the fact that he was exposed to carcinogenic chemicals at his workplace and required to work with the chemicals, no warning was given to him concerning the extreme toxicity of the chemicals. Mr. Atkinson's surviving family was forced to cope with the loss without being properly compensated for his death.
Doug studied with Learning as Leadership (www.learnaslead.com) in the late 1990s and early 2000s, graduating from their One Year leadership development program in 2000 alongside business teams from top companies across the world. In college, Doug enjoyed studying ancient Greek and Latin languages, as well as mathematics and philosophy. Doug lives in San Francisco with his wife, son and two daughters, and enjoys traveling the great state of California in his free time, as well as bicycling.
